Important to know
On my trips, you don’t learn how to take photos – you simply enjoy spending your holiday with people who love photography just as much as you do. Together you discover, share ideas and set off on exploratory walks in small groups or with me alone. My trips are for you if your camera or smartphone are constant companions while you wander through landscapes or explore towns and villages – because you want to capture the most beautiful moments and motifs in your pictures.
We consciously collect snapshots and experience our destination up close – right in the middle of it all, not just on the sidelines. In a small group, you get to know the special places of Sicily, Naples and the Amalfi Coast. On my trips, you switch off, enjoy and immerse yourself – culturally, culinarily and through photography.

Is Reise und Fotografie a tour operator?
Yes . Travel and Photography is a personally run provider of photography tours, culinary tours, city breaks, and tailor-made trips to Italy. Ulrike Rios plans, organizes, and leads select tours to Sicily, Naples, Capri, Procida, and the Amalfi Coast.
Are the photo tours classic photography courses?
No. These trips aren't traditional photography courses with technical instruction. However, you'll learn to see more consciously, recognize subjects, perceive light and perspective, and capture your journey in a more personal way with a camera or smartphone. The focus is on the joy of photography, shared discovery, and an eye for special details.
For whom are trips to Sicily and Southern Italy suitable?
These trips are designed for solo travelers, couples, and small groups who want to experience Italy in a meaningful way. They are especially appealing to people interested in photography, culture, architecture, cuisine, special places, and authentic encounters. My offerings include group tours, trips for individuals, and customized tours planned with me.
Can I, as a solo traveler, book a trip just for myself?
Yes. Reise und Fotografie also plans individual trips for solo travelers who want to experience Sicily or Southern Italy away from typical group tours. The route, accommodations, excursions, photo spots, and culinary recommendations are tailored to your specific needs, and you will be personally accompanied.
How much does a privately guided trip including reise und fotografie cost ?
The cost of a personally guided tour depends on the duration of the trip, group size, route, and desired level of support. As a guideline, my daily fee for personal tour guiding for individual travelers is usually between €150 and €200 per day, and for larger groups, depending on the complexity, between €250 and €300 per day.
Additional costs include accommodation and meals, rental car, entrance fees, and other travel services. These costs are planned individually for each trip and discussed transparently.
Which trips are particularly suitable for solo travelers?
For solo travelers, the " Be a Guest in My Village " and " Be a Guest in Sicily" tours are particularly suitable. Both tours can be personalized and tailored to individual needs, making them ideal for those who don't want to organize and travel in Sicily on their own, but still want to travel independently, in a relaxed manner, and close to the land and its people.
What distinguishes reise und fotografie from a classic group tour?
The trips are personal, with small group sizes and meticulously planned. Instead of large groups and standardized programs, the focus is on special places, flexible itineraries tailored to the travelers, encounters with the land and its people, photography, culture, and cuisine.

In September 2024, I traveled with a small tour group to Palermo, Sicily, led by Ulrike Rios of https://www.reiseundfotografie.de. We wandered through Palermo, Cefalù, and Mondello with our cameras. (...) Since I didn’t want to wander through the Sicilian metropolis alone, I ended up in a harmonious tour group and explored the city at a leisurely pace together with new friends. (...) With our very friendly tour guide, Ulrike, who led us. Before we knew it, we had explored every neighborhood of the southern metropolis. We stayed at a lovely bed-and-breakfast right in the heart of the city. One day we drove to Cefalù (...) and another beautiful late-summer day we spent in Mondello, the seaside resort of the Palermitans. (...) I took the opportunity to go for a swim in this beautiful place after a delicious Italian beach meal, as always. Eventually, it was time to say goodbye to this beautiful city and its residents, not sure if I would ever come back here again.

The “Travel & Photography” concept is exactly my thing, and I’ve had the chance to experience it on several photography trips, both in groups and on custom-tailored journeys. Through these trips, I was able to experience the incredible diversity of Sicily in all its facets—its rich history and vibrant cultural diversity, the modern lives of people in cities, towns, and villages, and the breathtaking natural landscapes. The entire program was superbly organized. At the same time, there was always room for spontaneous detours, whether for a leisurely coffee, a visit to charming shops, or simply to savor the moment in special places. The photographic highlights were always perfectly woven into the theme of “experience, fun, and joy.” I am grateful for the wonderful tour guide and the great fellow travelers in our small, dynamic groups, with whom I was able to share these unforgettable experiences.
