VIBRANT PALERMO
A CITY PORTRAIT OF A MORBID BEAUTY
from 22 to 26 September 2026
A city full of history and stories
It is hard to describe Palermo in just a few words. This almost 3,000-year-old city is a cornucopia of history and stories, of culture and cultures. The capital of Sicily is a very special piece of Italy, and our imagination starts to wander the moment we hear the name Palermo. This multicultural metropolis feels like a film set, full of colourful markets, impressive, often opulent architecture and warm-hearted people. It is a city full of life, colours, scents, sounds and creativity, with rough edges and its very own morbid elegance. The people of Palermo are proud of their city with all its facets and contradictions – and they are happy to share this passion with their guests.
Getting close to Palermo – step by step into the heart of the city
On this trip you will experience Palermo up close and authentically. We explore the city together, feel the vibrant bustle of the markets, the charm of its picturesque squares and winding alleyways, and enjoy breathtaking views over the city and the sea. We take excursions to the coastal town of Cefalù and to Monreale, where art, faith and history come together in a truly impressive way. We savour Palermo’s cuisine – from street food to cosy osterias – and immerse ourselves in the Sicilian way of life. Let yourself be inspired by the many facets of the city and capture its most beautiful moments with your camera.

FEEDBACK OF MY GUESTS

SILKE
VIBRANT PALERMO
Autumn in Sicily – why not?
The trip description on Ulrike’s website left little doubt that I wanted to go to Palermo. And so I found myself in a small travel group in Palermo in September. In the mild late-summer temperatures, we soaked up the impressions of this Sicilian metropolis – with plenty of time for photography at beautiful photo spots and relaxed culinary breaks. Everything without time pressure or stress, simply enjoying the moment.
Thanks to Ulrike, who knows the city like the back of her hand, and her carefully chosen (photographic) highlights, restaurants and bars, we had a wonderful time in and around Palermo – including Cefalù and Mondello. Thank you, Ulrike, for this and for the heart and passion you pour into these extraordinary trips.
Best regards and hopefully see you again soon,
Silke

SÖNKE
VIBRANT PALERMO
I was looking for a photo trip and spent quite some time searching the internet for the right offer. Then coincidence stepped in: in the magazine “c’t Fotografie” I came across an article by and about Ulrike and her project “Reise & Fotografie”, focusing on photographing in Naples. On Ulrike’s website I then quickly found the trip “Lebendiges Palermo”, which offered exactly what I was looking for: a photo tour with a small group, an exciting city, vibrant street photography and authentic Italian lifestyle.
And that is exactly what it turned out to be: a fantastic holiday, with beautiful places to photograph, great images, Italian way of life and delicious food. Our group was very small, and we had an incredible amount of fun.
What inspired me most was the passion Ulrike puts into organising this trip. I always felt that the places she took us to were not just “must-see attractions from a guidebook”, but spots she personally loves and genuinely wants to share with us.
